Wellbeing Fee

Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) does not bill health insurance.

Students in the The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan are eligible for CPS services without an additional fee. The Wellbeing Fee does not apply to students in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan.

Students who are not enrolled in The Ohio Guarantee tuition plan can enroll in the Wellbeing Fee, a university discount program that helps reduce patient costs for services at CPS. Students are automatically charged the Wellbeing Fee if they are registered for one or more credit hour through any college on OHIO’s Athens Campus.

What is the Wellbeing Fee for?

Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance. The Wellbeing Fee supports services provided by Ohio University Counseling and Psychological services.  

How much does the Wellbeing Fee cost?

Students not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan are charged $45.00 upon registration each semester for the Wellbeing Fee. 

How does the Wellbeing Fee help save money?

Students in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan are eligible for services at Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services at no additional cost. (Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance.) 

Students not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan receive services at Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services at no additional cost by enrolling in the Wellbeing Fee. 

As a student not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan, is it worth keeping the Wellbeing Fee if my health insurance has no copays and a low annual deductible? 

YES! Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance. Students enrolled in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan and students who have paid the Wellbeing Fee are eligible to receive treatment with Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services. 

As a student not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan who has the student health insurance, is it worth it to purchase the Wellbeing Fee? 

YES! Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services does not bill health insurance. Students not enrolled in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan who pay the Wellbeing Fee are eligible to receive treatment at Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services. 

Are Wellbeing Fee benefits available all year long?

Wellbeing benefits are valid during the active semester for which a student is enrolled and paid the Wellbeing Fee.

If a student not enrolled in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan pays the Wellbeing Fee, are they still required to carry medical insurance?

YES. Wellbeing Fee is not health insurance. All students at Ohio University are required to continuously carry active health insurance.

Can a student not enrolled in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan pay the Wellbeing Fee without purchasing Ohio University’s student health insurance? 

YES! Students not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan can pay the Wellbeing Fee each semester if they are registered for 1 or more Athens campus credit hours. A student can pay the Wellbeing Fee to be eligible for CPS services without purchasing Ohio University’s student health insurance.

How do I enroll in the Wellbeing Fee? 

Students not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan are automatically billed for the Wellbeing Fee upon registration of one or more Athens campus credit hours.

Can I pay the Wellbeing Fee if I have waived it previously during the same semester?

Students not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan can pay the Wellbeing Fee after waiving it if they are actively seeking treatment from Ohio University Counseling and Psychological Services. To enroll or re-enroll, students can email wellbeing@ohio.edu from their student email account. If you do not enroll or re-enroll in the Wellbeing Fee plan, you will be charged a fee per session.

How do I waive the Wellbeing Fee? 

Students in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan are eligible for CPS services and are not charged a Wellbeing Fee.  

Students not in The OHIO Guarantee tuition plan are eligible to waive the Wellbeing Fee. The fee must be waived online in My Ohio Student Center prior to the posted deadline. To waive the Wellbeing Fee: 

  • Sign in to My OHIO Student Center
  • In the Finances section, select Waive WellBeing Plan 
  • Follow the instructions to complete the waiver 
  • Wait for the confirmation receipt to appear; print it for your records 
What if I waive the Wellbeing Fee?

Students who waive the Wellbeing Fee have the option to re-enroll in the Wellbeing Fee by emailing wellbeing@ohio.edu from their student email with their request to have the Wellbeing Fee reapplied to their account OR pay for CPS services per session.
