Ohio University’s Nursing Program has been recognized for its excellence, earning the #1 spot for public universities in Ohio by nursing.org, ranking #3 among both public and private. This recognition highlights the OHIO’s dedication to providing high-quality education and support to nursing students, ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers.

“Being recognized again as a top-tier institution in the state for nursing is a fantastic achievement for our program,” said Dr. John McCarthy, Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Professions. “It highlights the hard work of our faculty and the outstanding education we provide.”

Clinical placement in the communities we serve

Located in the scenic Appalachian foothills of Southeast Ohio, the university collaborates closely with students to secure clinical placements close to its main campus and throughout the state.

"As the demand for nurses and high-quality healthcare continues to grow, we have partnerships throughout Ohio," said Dr. JM. "In Athens, we cannot accommodate all students but do have some rotations with Ohio Health O’Bleness. There are also new facilities opening in the area this year, including a new Emergency Department in Athens."

Ohio University also offers traditional on-campus BSN programs at its regional locations in Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern, and Zanesville. Traditional BSN program structure

For students pursuing the traditional (on-campus) BSN program, Ohio University offers a comprehensive and immersive educational experience. The admission process is selective, beginning with students applying as Pre-BSN with a blend of on-campus classroom lectures, simulation exercises, and lab activities, complemented by clinical experiences in hospitals and clinics across the region.
