Corey Beck, Ph.D., is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ohio University, where he specializes in large-lecture introductory chemistry and physical chemistry courses. With a Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry from The Ohio State University, Dr. Beck has taught over 13,000 undergraduate and nearly 300 graduate students. He serves as the Associate Undergraduate Chair and has led curriculum development as Chair for the past several years. A recipient of the 2024–2027 Provost Teaching Award and the Teaching Excellence in STEM Faculty Fellowship, Dr. Beck is passionate about integrating generative AI into STEM education and fostering early student engagement through programs like STEMstart. He also serves on the executive board of the Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery, promoting the intersection of science and art in community outreach.

Dr. Beck’s research interests center on science education, visualization, and community engagement. He leads projects that explore how students at all levels engage with complex scientific concepts through visual and creative expression. As a faculty lead for the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) at Ohio University, Dr. Beck has guided undergraduates in designing microgravity experiments flown aboard the International Space Station. To broaden the impact of this work, he also directed a K–8 Patch Design Contest, where younger students created artwork inspired by the spaceflight research. His current research examines how these artistic interpretations reflect scientific understanding and how undergraduate-led science communication can foster early STEM engagement.
