Online Master's in Geological Sciences Admissions Information

All graduate applications must be submitted electronically through the Graduate College. You will be prompted to first select the term for which you wish to apply. Then select “Graduate Degree Application.” No GRE scores are necessary for this program.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Applicants are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in geology, earth or space sciences, integrated science, physical science, science education, or a related degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or equivalent
  • Official Transcripts of all academic work must be submitted with the online application.
  • Resume or Curriculum Vitae that describes your previous education, work, teaching, and research experience, professional affiliations, community and volunteer experience, honors and awards, and publications.
  • Statement of Goals/Purpose: a one- to two-page statement that describes your interest in both the field of geological sciences and OHIO's online Geological Sciences graduate program.
  • Three letters of recommendation are required. They can be from former employers, instructors, advisers, or persons otherwise having had a professional or academic experience with you.
  • English Proficiency: Please review information about Ohio University’s English Language Proficiency requirements.
  • A $50 application fee is associated with the submission of your application for this program.
  • Application Deadlines

    Students can start any semester.

    The spring deadline for submitting applications is December 1.
    The summer deadline is April 1.
    The fall deadline is July 15.
