Gavin Whitehead
Expected Graduation: May 2016
Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
Gavin has a passion for aviation. He came into Ohio University with only a half-hour introductory flight under his belt and the moment he stepped through the doors of the Aviation Department in fall 2012, he knew he was in the right place. He went on to earn his private pilot license in only one semester and completed all of the flight requirements and certifications before his senior year.
This year, he will be a second-year flight instructor and will be the most senior student flight instructor in the flight department. Gavin has a love for flight instruction and enjoys the adventure of teaching students how to fight gravity by giving them wings.
When on the ground, Gavin likes to spend his time doing activities such as ultimate Frisbee and sand volleyball. He likes the competitive nature and the camaraderie of the two sports. He likes to play on the intramural league as it is a good way to meet people, have fun, and have a nice workout at the same time.
