Bioinformatics Certificate Program
Program Overview
The certificate in bioinformatics intends to provide students with backgrounds in biology or computer science the requisite background in bioinformatics in order to find employment in industries that employ persons with bioinformatics experience or in order to participate in research projects that use bioinformatics. Students study genetics, statistics, computer science, and complete a bioinformatics capstone experience.

Change of Program Policy
Students are expected to complete the following introductory-level courses with a C (2.0) or better prior to beginning the bioinformatics certificate.

No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
The medical, pharmaceutical, and agricultural industries have a need for students trained in bioinformatics. Many opportunities exist in these industries for students with the appropriate background.
