The J. Warren McClure School of Emerging Communication Technologies, solving business problems with technology and creativity. We offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in information and telecommunication systems (ITS), cybersecurity operations (CSO) and virtual reality and game development degree. For students interested in multi-disciplinary skills, our degrees offer multiple tracks or minors. As part of our growing collaboration with other colleges, we offer certificates in e-sports and cybersecurity. The school is also the academic home of the GRID Lab, which conducts advanced content production largely centered on augmented, virtual, mixed reality and digital games.
Our program in Virtual Reality and Game Development has been nationally recognized in the Animation Career Review 2025 College Rankings, securing the #21 spot among the Top 25 Public Augmented/Virtual Reality (AR/VR) Schools in the U.S. (Source)
McClure School student, Hunter Brode, shares his hands-on experience through Ohio University's PACE Program where he is developing and securing a simulated pharmaceutical sorting plant using industrial control software, augmented reality, and cyberattack testing.
As part of an ITS elective class, a group of students from the McClure School are building together a picoballoon and learning hands-on skills on wireless communications and basic manufacturing.
The McClure School partnered with the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce to host a local cybersecurity forum to discuss best practices for local businesses.
