Justin Hanus, Reflections
I came to Chubu University in the spring of 2001 to further advance my Japanese studies for the spring semester. A very much humbling experience that had me as the only westerner in my class, the day-in, day-out challenges I faced, especially as a beginner-level student trying to comprehend what my teachers were saying, was truly a blessing in disguise. Fast forward 20+ years, I can say with much confidence that the comprehensive language instruction I received at Chubu solidified the foundation that I had received from my teachers at Gordy Hall in Athens. Going on 20+ years as a resident of Japan and a fluent speaker of the Japanese language now, I quite often reflect upon my experience and the friendships created at Chubu University. Many great memories that will last forever, my journey here in Japan will always have Chubu University as the starting point.
