The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) advances OHIO’s research by providing faculty, staff and student innovators and inventors with resources and tools to protect and promote their discoveries and inventions.

Collaborating with inventors, industry and investors is one of our highest priorities. Commercialization of technology is a multi-step process. We want to provide our innovators with a process that maximizes the results of their inventions and discoveries.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to contact the Technology Transfer Office early on to be aware of the options that will best suit the commercial potential of their research. TTO staff are trained to provide answers to questions about marketability, funding, partners, patenting and other protection methods, business startup considerations and Ohio University policies and procedures.

Call us at 740-593-0462 when you believe you have created or discovered something with commercial or research value. To prevent the loss of patent rights, contact us before any discussions with individuals outside the Ohio University Community. If you have companies or contacts you believe might be interested or may have already contacted you, be sure to include this on the disclosure form and keep us informed of any upcoming publications or interactions with companies related to your intellectual property.
