Student Professionals of Communication Studies (SPCS)

Student professionals of Communication Studies is an organization dedicated to helping Communication students develop professional skills. The group's main focus is to aid students of the Scripps College of Communication in networking and exploring career paths.

On a bi-weekly basis, SPCS gives members the opportunity to meet and discuss future internship and career opportunities with professionals in their field of study. The organization also creates connections between students and Bobcat alumni, holds interviewing workshops, helps students to improve their resumes, and hosts networking trips among other opportunities.

Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society (LPH)

To recognize the excellent academic accomplishments of undergraduate Communication majors, the School of Communication Studies has a local chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association's official honor society at four-year colleges and universities.

To qualify for membership, students must have completed at least 60 credit hours, maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled as a full time student. Additionally, students must have completed at least 12 credit hours in Communication courses with a minimum GPA of 3.25 in those courses.

Lambda Pi Eta provides its members with academic recognition as well as opportunities to participate in chapter-sponsored social and professional events. On the national level, LPH provides an academic outlet for communication research through regional and national conventions. Ohio University Speaking Bobcats (Forensics)

The Forensics program, through the School of Communication Studies, provides the opportunity for all University students to meet and compete with fellow outstanding undergraduates from over 300 colleges and universities. Tournaments enable a student to develop skills in debate, extemporaneous speaking, oratory & rhetorical criticism, and oral interpretation.

Excellence in scholarship and superior performance in speech communication are rewarded in several ways. For students who excel in forensics, Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha National Honorary Forensic Society awards recognition for excellence in forensics and original speaking. For more information regarding Ohio University Forensics, please contact Jennifer Talbert, the John A.
