The Writing Commons provides free writing assistance to all Ohio University students. Our convenient options allow you to meet with a tutor at a time that fits your schedule.
For Undergraduate Students
The Writing Commons provides both in-person and remote (online) services to undergraduates.
Undergraduate peer tutors are available to assist at any stage of the writing process, from discussing and organizing ideas to revising a final draft. The tutors will not edit papers but will guide you in improving your writing strategies.
You can schedule an appointment with a writing tutor by opening TracCloud and selecting the appropriate course for which you need writing assistance and a day and time that fits your schedule.
- You can book writing assistance sessions to occur in person or online. Check your appointment email for the location of your meeting.
- In-person undergraduate sessions will meet in Bromley Hall 032, an office facing West Union Street.
- If you do not have an appointment, you may drop in at Bromley 032 to see if a tutor is free to assist you, but it is strongly recommended to book a session in advance.
- Online sessions meet remotely via Microsoft Teams. Once you book an online appointment, your tutor will send you an email that includes a link to your upcoming session. The Teams app allows you and your tutor to talk, use chat, and share documents.
For Graduate Students
Professional tutors serve undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral students working on longer, advanced writing projects such as theses, dissertations, journal articles, grants, and conference presentations.
