Bio
Dr. Hedges is originally from Central Ohio and earned her Bachelor’s in Education from Ohio University in 2009. She later attended graduate school at National University of Health Sciences and earned her Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree in 2016. As a graduate student, she developed a strong interest in understanding Human Physiology through numerous Anatomy & Physiology courses. During her tenure at NUHS, she had the opportunity to serve as the Neuroanatomy course TA, a private tutor in various anatomy courses, and to work alongside an esteemed Anatomist, Dr. Susan Darby, co-author of Basic and Clinical Anatomy of the Spine, Spinal Cord, and ANS, used in many medical programs today. Her mentor’s excitement and dedication to her field inspired Dr. Hedges to have a dual focus of both patient care and education.
For six years, Dr. Hedges served as instructional faculty at the University of Alaska- Anchorage (UAA) in the Biological Sciences department. In that role, she taught A&P I and II lecture/lab courses at the main UAA campus and at a satellite campus on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). Providing that opportunity for active-duty service personnel and assisting them in their educational pursuits is one aspect of her career that Dr. Hedges is most proud of. In addition to her educational experience in every instructional level, PreK-University, Dr. Hedges brings expertise in the neuromusculoskeletal system and associated biomechanics to Ohio University’s Biological Sciences department. Her clinical background allows her to integrate practical insights into coursework, enhancing students' preparation for clinical roles, especially those in pre-health tracks.
Joining Ohio University, now as a full-time faculty member, Dr. Hedges is passionate about fostering a deep understanding of Human Anatomy & Physiology and a commitment to ethics and discipline in higher education. Together with her husband, she enjoys spending time with their three children and embracing their shared commitment to healthcare and education, both in and outside of the classroom.
