Optometry School Selection
The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) has 23 member schools and colleges in the United States and Puerto Rico. For an overview of individual optometry school requirements, visit the ASCO Directory of Schools & Colleges and the OptomCAS School & College Prerequisites page. Note that the information provided by OptomCAS is subject to change. Applicants should verify the prerequisites for each school through the school itself.
Students interested in research may wish to consult the ASCO directory of graduate programs. These programs offer master's, Ph.D.s, and/or dual degrees (O.D. and Ph.D.).
ASCO maintains a library of resources available to students considering optometry. The Optometry Career Guide offers a wealth of information about practicing optometry, as well as guidance on how to finance optometry school.
