New accreditation awarded to Ohio University's School of Nursing program
Ohio University’s College of Health Sciences and Professions (CHSP) is proud to announce that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has granted accreditation status to the School of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.
The accreditation, which runs through June 30, 2024, will allow the School of Nursing (SON) to continue its mission of providing quality education that is both highly respected and nationally recognized. The Standards for Accreditation of Baccalaureate and Graduate Nursing Programs was retroactive to Jan. 1, 2019 following an on-site evaluation that occurred in 2018.
The doctoral degree program in nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
The CCNE also awarded accreditation to the post-graduate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program through June 30, 2024.
“Both our School and staff have worked diligently to reach this status and we are proud to have earned this accreditation from the CCNE,” said Dr. Deborah Henderson, SON director. “It allows us to continue to provide quality education for the nation’s best health care professionals.”
OHIO’s DNP program builds on the baccalaureate or master’s educational foundations and offers a hands-on, high-quality concentration in advanced clinical or executive practice, combining real-world scenarios with teaching methods tailored toward each student’s needs and goals.
