Master of Social Work program recognized by U.S. News and World Report

Ohio University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) graduate program within the College of Health Sciences and Professions (CHSP) has been recognized on a national scale within U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Graduate School” rankings for 2020.

The rankings, released earlier this week, placed the MSW program at No. 96 in the country and among the best in the state of Ohio.

“These rankings are important because they recognize the work that we have accomplished to improve our program,” said MSW Program Director Terry Cluse-Tolar. “We rank third out of 10 MSW programs in Ohio and we are the top MSW program in the state with a rural focus. Additionally, when prospective students compare costs, they can see that our program remains committed to being a cost-effective choice.”

Cluse-Tolar also noted that CHSP’s addition of an online MSW offering has helped to further expand their programmatic reach nationwide.

Several other Ohio University colleges and programs were also recognized as part of the U.S. News and World Report’s latest graduate program rankings including: The Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, the Patton College of Education and the Russ College of Engineering and Technology.

In 2016’s U.S. News and World Report rankings, CHSP’s School of Rehabilitation programs in audiology (37), physical therapy (46) and speech pathology (46) made the best graduate schools’ “top health schools” list.

U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Graduate School” rankings are based on expert opinions of program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. The data are derived from statistical surveys of more than 2,000 programs and from reputation surveys sent to more than 20,000 academics and professionals, conducted in fall 2018 and early 2019.
