Dr. Ryan Fogt, the OHIO Office of Sustainability’s new Sustainable Administration Hub coordinator, will discuss his Hub initiatives at the first Sustainability Hubs Seminar at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Baker University Center Front Room.
The Sustainability Hubs Seminar Series will be held the third Tuesday of February, March and April at 5 p.m. in the Front Room.
Fogt, associate professor of Geography and director of OHIO’s Scalia Lab, will focus the seminar on discussion of key findings in an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report, and will describe in detail his new Climate and Sustainability Ambassadors Program (CSAP) at OHIO.
Students interested in the CSAP can apply for the program here.
The IPCC is the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. The Special Report on the impact of global warming of 1.5C degrees above pre-industrial levels includes support for a strengthening of the global response to the threat of climate change.
The Sustainable Administration Hub’s Ambassador Program strives to provide a local effort to strengthen climate change literacy. The ambassadors will serve as advocates for the Office of Sustainability and will participate in outreach and education on campus and in the community on various aspects of sustainability and climate change.
The program provides opportunities for students to collaborate with others who are passionate about sustainability and climate literacy. It also allows them to partner with local schools to further climate change education and help the University reach its goals in its Sustainability and Climate Action Plans.
As one of three new faculty coordinators working with OHIO’s new sustainability structure, Fogt will focus on sustainability initiatives connected to the themes of Climate, Procurement, Human Resources and Investments.
