2020 Above and Beyond Awardees

Katie Hartman, Fox Associate Professor of Marketing, College of Business

Katie Hartman is the Fox Associate Professor of Marketing. She currently serves the university as Chair of the College of Business’ Marketing Department, assessment coordinator for the College of Business, a leader for OHIO’s Reimagining General Education strategic initiative, co-chair of OHIO’s Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Committee, and chair of UCC’s General Education Committee. She believes the common thread among these roles is to advocate for the advancement teaching, learning, and assessment. As a second-generation OHIO alumnus and faculty member, she is devoted to providing meaningful opportunities for students to develop intellectually and professionally. Since returning to OHIO as a faculty member in 2012, she has been honored to work with countless talented, highly motivated faculty, staff, and administrators within the College of Business and across the University; their collective efforts help to build a learning community where students can realize their promise and potential. Katie is especially thankful for the support of marketing faculty, the opportunities provided by the College of Business Dean, and the efforts of the Reimagining General Education leadership team. Given the talent of OHIO women, Katie is humbled to be selected for the 2020 Above and Beyond Award. 

Holly Smith Voltz, Coordinator of Marketing and Public Relations, Dean’s Office, Zanesville

Holly is a tireless voice for Ohio and our students. In a course of a typical day, she can be found working with students, faculty, staff and community leaders to promote initiatives of the Zanesville campus; conducting focus groups to fine-tune engagement and marketing strategy; and supporting the Dean regarding public relations and outreach. She launched the Bobcat Ambassador Leadership initiative, a program that had only been conceptualized and, through Holly’s efforts, has resulted in a successful cohort of student leaders who are engaging in the campus and community in a directed, meaningful way. She developed and coordinated the Future of Work Summits, working in partnership with Dean Webster to create an event series that is transforming the campus’ profile in the community. Holly and her three sisters are all graduates of Ohio University. She is very involved in her community and is a board member for her local Rotary Club and coaches soccer.

Sarah Diamond Burroway, M.S., Director of External Relations, Communications and Workforce Success

As Director of External Relations, Communications and Workforce Success, Sarah tells Southern’s story in social and traditional media, engages community and workforce partners on various initiatives and serves as the primary grant writer for Southern. Sarah previously worked as a broadcast journalist in Kentucky and West Virginia for more than 16 years, then worked in communications, special projects and grant development roles in the mental health, disabilities services and community non-profits sectors. She was the first in her family to graduate college, earning undergraduate degrees at Ashland Community College and Morehead State University, and a Master of Science degree in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University. Sarah is currently completing work on her creative nonfiction thesis, a collection of essays about the opioid crisis, at Bluegrass Writers Studio at Eastern Kentucky University. She serves on the boards of the Women of Appalachia Project, Kentucky Theatre Association, Rivertown Performing Arts League, Ironton aLive and is a member of the Lawrence County Recovery Coalition and Ironton Rotary and the Tribune Reader Advisory Board.

Debra McAdoo, Administrative Associate, Dance

Mother of three, nana of four, and pretty much a lifetime resident of Athens, my Ohio University career started in 2001 in the Accounts Payable department. 10 years later, I accepted a position in the College of Fine Arts, School of Dance. In the world of dream jobs, this is the position for me. The lone office support person to the Director, faculty and students in Dance, I often lend assistance to two other departments housed in our building that have no administrative support on site, I can truly say that I find joy in my position. Challenging yes, but so rewarding.

Time away from the office can find me serving in children’s ministry at church, reading, and summers gardening. Travel is always on my horizon as my children make their homes outside of Ohio. I’m always ready for an on the road adventure.

 

2018 Above and Beyond Awardees

 

Rachida Aissaoui, Assistant Professor, College of Business

Rachida Aïssaoui joined Ohio University College of Business in 2013, and teaches business strategy and international business. She has been loving every minute interacting with her students. She strives to leverage her experience working in various industries and various cultural environments to enrich her students’ understanding of business in a changing and globalizing world. While keen to understanding all her students so as to better work with them on their academic progress, she feels a particular responsibility to mentor and prepare her female students to work in a still male-dominated environment.

 

 

 

Pam Beam, Lecturer and Clinical Faculty, Patton College of Education

Pam Beam is a Lecturer and Clinical Faculty Member in the Adolescent to Young Adult Program in Teacher Education in the Patton College of Education, at Ohio University.  She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction, Reading in the Content Areas and general methods courses to all majors. Her major research interests include mentoring and coaching inservice and preservice teachers, co-teaching and instruction, and the benefits of implementing a clinical model.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Texas A&M University, her master’s degree in educational administration from Ohio University, and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Literacy from Ohio University.   Dr. Beam also holds a Texas Mid-Management Administrative Certificate, an Ohio Health Education Certificate, High School Principal’s Certificate, Assistant Superintendent and a Superintendent Certificate for the state of Ohio.  Pam also has had an active career in P-12 public education prior to coming to Ohio University.  She was a high school teacher, coach, department chair, athletic director, assistant high school principal, high school principal, district curriculum director, and state school improvement coach for the SE region of Ohio.  Pam enjoys Ohio University Athletics and the Arts.

Antonique Flood, M.Ed.

Antonique Flood joined Ohio University as the Assistant Director of the Allen Student Advising Center in May 2016. She brings with her extensive advising knowledge from diverse experiences. She continues to work with at-risk students through academic success and retention programs. Her passions include helping students develop self-efficacy and resilience which she plans to continue studying at the doctoral level. Antonique received a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati in Secondary Education and a master's degree from Youngstown State University in Student Affairs & Leadership.

 

 

 

Linsey Sledge Hugo

Linsey Sledge Hugo is the Associate Director of Employer Relations in the Office of Career Management at Ohio University's College of Business. In this role she seeks to create meaningful connections between students and the workforce. Since joining the College in 2015, Linsey developed a college-wide employer relations strategy to streamline outreach to over 350 employers. She collaborates with employers to develop customized recruiting plans and to maximize recruiting efforts at Ohio University. Prior to joining Ohio University, Linsey was a strategy consultant serving higher education clients at Deloitte Consulting LLP. Her published research, Reimagining Higher Education, explores the future landscape of higher education and what it means for higher education institutions, businesses, and governments. Linsey is pursuing business and higher education graduate studies at Ohio University and received her BS in Business Administration at American University.
