Advising
Academic advising takes places in many ways at the Eastern Campus. Incoming students meet with Professional Academic Advisors in the Student Services Office (Shannon Hall, Suite 101). These advisors help you plan your degree and prepare your class schedule as you begin your college journey at Ohio University. Throughout your academic career, they are available to provide assistance as you progress towards graduation. In addition, all entering students are encouraged to take UC 1000, a two credit hour course that prepares you for university life, degree planning, and understanding academic policies and procedures.
Once students decide their major, they meet each semester one-on-one with a faculty member in their chosen area of study to better assist them in their academic pursuits as they prepare for life after college.
For those who need it, extra academic help is available through tutoring, developmental courses, and through UC 1100, a two credit hour course that offers ideas and techniques about learning strategies & study skills. The campus also offers a number of other free advising services, including mental health and accessibility.
