All graduate applications must be submitted electronically through the Graduate College. You will be prompted to first select the term for which you wish to apply. Then select “Graduate Degree Application.”
To be eligible for acceptance into the Master’s of Reading Education Program applicants’ transcripts must demonstrate that they have taken at least 12 credit hours in literacy education coursework (for Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Childhood, and Special Education.) However, only 9 credit hours in literacy education is required for those whose licenses are in Adolescent/Young Adult or Multi-Age.) In addition, applicants are required to hold a current, valid teaching license. If needed, Ohio University offers additional coursework in literacy education which can be taken before applying for the program as a nondegree student.
All applications will be reviewed holistically, however, prospective master’s students generally should have an undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.00 (4.00 point scale) and a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent.
