Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (SHECP) Internship
SHECP Summer Internships unite students with community partners that work in disadvantaged communities. Students learn first-hand about the multiple dimensions of poverty in the United States by working for eight weeks to strengthen impoverished communities and working alongside professionals and community leaders seeking to empower their communities. The community partners, located in both urban and rural sites, focus on a wide variety of areas, including: education, health care, legal services, housing, nutrition, and social, economic, and community-building. Students work with agencies that match their intellectual interests in order to develop professional experience and skills for future civic involvement and employment.
