Dr. Wenhan Guo is an assistant professor in the Health Services Administration in College of Health Sciences and Professions. He earned his Ph.D. in Health Services Research and Policy from the University of Rochester and holds a Master of Science degree in Biostatistics from Columbia University.
Dr. Guo's research focuses on aging policy and its potential to improve the quality of care for older adults, particularly in long-term care settings. His work examines how policies and regulations can enhance care delivery, promote best practices, and improve outcomes for aging populations. He is especially interested in the role of policy interventions in advancing care quality, access, and efficiency in long-term and end-of-life care. Dr. Guo’s research aims to inform strategies that address the unique needs of older adults and support the development of high-quality, sustainable care systems. He also explores how health disparities and social determinants of health may impact health outcomes.
His research has been recognized at prestigious national conferences, including the American Public Health Association (APHA) and AcademyHealth, where he has presented his findings multiple times. His work has been published in leading journals such as Health Affairs, Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, Journal of the American Medical Directors Association, and Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology.
At Ohio University, Dr. Guo teaches a variety of courses, including healthcare leadership and management, the U.S. health care policy, and health informatics. He remains active in professional organizations, particularly the American Public Health Association. He previously served as the student liaison for the Aging & Public Health Section and is currently chair-in-training for the Awards Committee. Through these roles, he continues to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and policy in public health and aging.
Dr. Guo is also a member of The Institute to Advance Health Equity (ADVANCE), where he collaborates with colleagues to tackle health disparity issues, with a particular focus on the Appalachian region.
