New Phishing Awareness Tool - The Phish Bowl


The Information Security Office has recently adopted a new phishing awareness tool called the Phish Bowl. It is a resource to help faculty, staff, and students determine whether emails they receive are legitimate. 

Schoonover Green Roof Project completed


Schoonover Center is a little greener after the installation of a green roof over the main lobby was completed on July 2. The green roof has added benefits by supporting student learning and engaging the OHIO community in a sustainability mission.

Coming August 20, 2020: A new way to navigate Blackboard Learn


On August 20, OIT will be introducing a new, streamlined landing page in Blackboard Learn that allows students to more easily access important course information, including learning materials, grades, messages, calendars, and relevant links arranged in an Activity feed. Only Blackboard's home page is changing. Courses, Grades, and other pages inside of your courses will remain and will work the same as before.

IT Advisory Communities continue in July


Advisory communities are an important part of the University's IT Governance framework. They provide a means to engage with OIT and influence decisions based on the needs and experiences of participants and, most importantly, to inspire action to meet those needs. The Learning Spaces advisory community, Teaching & Learning Technologies advisory community, and Computer & Device Support advisory community will all meet in the month of July.

Prepaid Invoices Year-End Information


A prepaid is an amount paid by the University for a future expense that has been paid in advance.  In other words, prepaid expenses are costs that have been paid in one fiscal year (ex., FY19) but the goods or services will not be used up or delivered until the following fiscal year (ex., FY20). 

OHIO students, non-profit look to salvage lithium ion batteries for reuse


A local non-profit, with design help from OHIO students, is working on a system for salvaging lithium ion batteries and turning their still-working components into a new battery system.
