Congratulations to College of Arts & Sciences graduates from around the world! This spring semester, Ohio University boasts 196 International Students who have applied for graduation across the university!

The College of Arts and Sciences is home to 70 international undergraduate and graduate students representing 30 countries who are completing their degrees and moving on to proudly represent OHIO as global citizens and leaders.

Mashael Aldossary is one of the Arts & Sciences undergraduate students slated to graduate this spring. She came to Athens from Saudi Arabia and spent two years in the Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE) before beginning a B.A. in Linguistics. Now she heads toward graduation with a GPA of 3.964 and is receiving the 2021 Outstanding Linguistics Undergraduate Award. Her next step is pursuing a master’s in applied linguistics here at OHIO.

Vera Giacomazzi, who came to OHIO from Venice, Italy, has been a standout both in the classroom and on the volleyball court. She came to Athens to study biological sciences, and she has been accepted to the Università di Siena in Tuscany, Italy, to pursue graduate study in genetic counseling. In addition to finishing 16th in the nation in assists per set, she also was named Academic All-MAC.

Among our Ph.D. candidates is Henry Chimal-Dzul, an international student from Mexico who graduates this spring with a Ph.D. in Mathematics. His next step is Switzerland. He has been awarded a Swiss Excellence Postdoctoral Fellowship, one of the most prestigious scholarships granted by the Swiss government. Starting in Fall 2021 he will be at the University of Zurich, conducting further research in coding theory and cryptography.
