There are many forms of transportation available in the city of Athens and on Ohio University’s campus. Athens offers public transportation from bus to taxi and there are also many on-campus transit options.

City Transit

The City of Athens public bus is available for all students free of charge. Just show your OHIO ID!

Alternative Options for Drivers

Car Rental

Have a driver's license but no car? No problem! Ohio University Transportation and Parking Services rents cars for university sponsored travel. They offer a full service fleet of rental vehicles for official university business and travel needs to accommodate OHIO departments and student organizations. Rental vehicle offerings include sedans, mini-vans, SUV's and 8-12 passenger and cargo vans. Daily, monthly and long-term lease/reservations are available.

Zipcar

Zipcar is available on the Ohio University Athens Campus for personal travel needs. Zipcar is a car sharing option that offers hourly and daily rentals. You need a valid driver's license and a credit card (or banking debit card that is accepted as a credit card). Learn more about Zipcar
