Alternatives for OhioLINK and Intercampus Borrowing During Delivery Service Interruption

Due to the problems with the courier service delivering library materials across the state, University Libraries is implementing some alternative workflows to help researchers get access to materials.

Researchers with urgent needs for materials are encouraged to contact our help desk or your librarian for assistance in locating materials at other libraries, public and academic, that you can visit in-person.

The following instructions are for requests from researchers (faculty and students with immediate needs for research materials). These options are not available for textbook requests.

  1. If you only need a portion of a book, e.g. a chapter or the table of contents, always use our InterLibrary Loan service. These items will be delivered to you electronically, typically within a couple of business days and sometimes on the same day.
  2. If you need an entire book for use this semester, you may request the book using our InterLibrary Loan service. You must have the title and author/editor information, but additional information such as date, publisher, and ISBN will speed up delivery of your item.
    • Most materials arrive in 7-14 days. We will attempt to fill these requests as quickly as possible. You will receive an email when your book is ready to be picked up at the 4th floor desk.
  3. Faculty, staff, and students may visit any OhioLINK library and check out items in person. Before visiting another library in person:
    • Check the OhioLINK Central Catalog for item availability
    • Look up the lending library's hours and visitor policies (including masking)
    • Bring your OHIO ID to check out items from the other school as a “visiting patron.”
    • In some cases, you might ask if the library can locate confirm that the book is on the shelf, as sometimes books do go missing.
    • Contact our help desk or your librarian for assistance
