Strategic Leadership Certificate
Program Overview
The Strategic Leadership Certificate (CTLEAD) seeks to attract, develop and mentor high-potential undergraduate students across the university who possess excellent skills in their chosen field and want to develop cutting-edge leadership potential. The primary focus of the program is to promote student development of core leadership skills needed to work effectively on project teams, succeed in complex assignments, and meet strategic objectives.

Freshman/First-Year Admission
No requirements beyond University admission requirements.
Change of Program Policy
Criteria for admission into the Strategic Leadership Certificate program include:
- Submission to the Management Department office of a completed application form - the application for the certificate is online;
- Submission to the Management Department office of a copy of the applicant's most recent DARS report indicating an overall G.P.A. of 2.75 or higher;
- Submission to the Management Department office of the applicant's resume demonstrating the characteristics that support the student's interest in leadership, for example, an above-average G.P.A., strong work ethic, previous leadership experience or courses involving organizational or leadership competencies, prior work and leadership positions, etc.;
- Completion by the applicant of a faculty panel interview, if requested.
Admission to the certificate program is expected to be competitive, and applicants demonstrating past leadership experience, either paid or unpaid, are preferred. Admission cannot be guaranteed to all students meeting the admission criteria. Undergraduate applicants from across the university are encouraged to apply. Each semester, those accepted into the Strategic Leadership Certificate program will have their progress tracked by DARS. An overall G.P.A. of 2.5 in certificate courses is required. The Strategic Leadership Certificate will be awarded only to students who have been accepted into the program and who have fulfilled all certificate requirements. Students will need to consult the Management Department office before the deadline for graduation to ensure that all requirements have been fulfilled and the certificate will be awarded.
External Transfer Admission
The same criteria for admission apply to transfer students.
Opportunities Upon Graduation
Students across the university and within the College of Business can deepen their career preparation by pursuing the field of Strategic Leadership through the certificate. Non-business students can build a complementary skill set that will be portable for their chosen field or occupation. Those who complete the program will be better prepared for managerial assignments or promotions in the management and leadership aspects of their careers.
