Percussion Audition Information
2024 Percussion Auditions
The 2024 Marching 110 Percussion Auditions will be completed via YouTube videos. However, two in-person clinics will be held in April on campus for student preparation and feedback prior to the deadline for audition videos. All clinics are optional, and do not impact audition scoring, but are highly encouraged for all prospective members.
The on-campus clinics will be held on Sunday, April 28 & Sunday May 5, 1:00-4:00 PM in 101 Robert Glidden Hall.
Register for either (or both) the clinics on campus.
If you desire, you may submit practice videos to our Marching 110 Drumline Staff to receive feedback prior to clinics and/or auditions. Feedback videos may be submitted at any time prior to the audition deadline (May 11, 2024.)
All audition videos are due May 11, 2024.
Music Requirements for Percussion Auditions

The audition consists of the following provided criteria which differs for each instrument:
Snares & Middles:
Paradiddles (116bpm)
Rolls (120bpm)
Lip Slurs (120bpm)
Basses:
F&B (Unison section only; 120bpm)
Monkey Beat (116bpm)
Lip Slurs (120bpm)
Cymbals:
Paradiddles (116bpm)
Monkey Beat (116bpm)
Lip Slurs (120bpm)
Please complete the audition on a marching band instrument (marching snare, cymbals, etc.). In your video(s), perform the required music to an audible metronome. Make sure that your feet are visible and that you mark time while playing.
- If you are auditioning on Middles, play either the Tenor or Timbale part.
- If you are auditioning on Bass, play either the A-Hole or B-Hole part (Bass 1 or Bass 2)
- If you are auditioning on Cymbals, play either the High 18”s (cym 2) or 20”s (cym 4) part.
Submit Your Feedback or Audition Videos
Students are able to submit pre-audition feedback videos prior to clinic days to help with preparation for auditions. These videos can be submitted at any time before the audition deadline, allowing some time for feedback to be provided.

Instrumental Auditions
Students who wish to audition on percussion as well as wind instrument should complete an audition on their wind instrument first, indicating their primary and secondary instrument selections on the audition form.
