Virtual Family Art & Science Encounters: Text as Image, Fun with Stencils

PDF Version (opens in a new window)

This art encounter invites students to explore the concept of “text as image” through the use of handmade stencils. Students will create stencils of phrases, names, initials, etc. to create an image using only text. This activity involves quite a bit of cutting, which an adult helper would have to do themselves, but students can draw out their stencils for parents to cut, then use the stencil on their paper.
