iCUE Spotlight: Dec. 11-17, 2017

It's the last week of fall semester and you know what that means -- finals week is upon us and so is Fall Commencement (more on that below)! But we've got a lot of week to get through and there are lots of events happening around campus to close out the semester. Read on for a few highlights:
School of Visual Communication Fall Student Show (opens in a new window) (through Jan. 16, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Visual Communicaiton Gallery, Schoonover Center 140): The Fall Student Show showcases work from several student organizations and publications, including the Society of Photographic Illustrators (SPI), National Press Photographers Association at Ohio University (NPPAOU), Ohio University Multimedia Society (OUMS), The Post, Thread Magazine, Backdrop Magazine and VARIANT Magazine. The show will be on display through Jan. 16, 2018 but please note, the gallery will be closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 1 and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 15). Normal gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Coffee with a Cop (opens in a new window) (Tuesday, Dec. 12, 1-3 p.m., Front Room Campus Coffeehouse, Baker University Center fourth floor): Take a study break and join the Ohio University Police Department and LGBT Center for free coffee and cookies paired with open dialogue. All are welcome so come get to know your neighbors and local police officers.
How to Write a Competitive NSF Grant workshop (opens in a new window) (Wednesday, Dec. 13, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.): Faculty, staff, and graduate students are invited to participate in this day-long workshop sponsored by The Research Division and OHIO's Academic Colleges. The workshop will be presented by Dr. John Robertson from the Grant Writers' Seminars and Workshops (opens in a new window). RSVP is required so send an email to research@ohio.edu with 'NSF Workshop' in the subject title ASAP.
Fall Commencement (opens in a new window) (Saturday, Dec. 16, 2 p.m., Convocation Center): Congratulations to all of the Bobcats graduating on Saturday! We're so proud of you and all of your accomplishments and wish you every success in your future endeavors! There is one ceremony for graduate and undergraduate degrees from all OHIO campuses. Tickets are not required and the ceremony lasts approximately 2.5 hours. Each college also holds receptions for its graduates:
- Fall Commencement Reception - Scripps College of Communication (Saturday, Dec. 16, 11 a.m. - 12:30 a.m., Schoonover Center Lower Level): Join the Scripps College of Communication in celebration of their graduating students at a reception prior to Fall Commencement. This free reception is open to graduating students and their families. Light refreshments will be provided.
- The Patton College Fall Commencement Reception (Saturday, Dec. 16, 3:30-6 p.m., Ping Student Recreation Center): This reception, taking place immediately following commencement, is for all Patton graduates from all campuses and their families.
- College of Health Sciences and Professions 2017 Fall Commencement Reception (opens in a new window) (Saturday, Dec. 16, 4-5 p.m., Atrium Cafe): CHSP invites all of their graduating seniors to the Grover Center Atrium Cafe following the commencement ceremony to pick up their CHSP alumni gift.
