Photo of iconic Cutler Hall to be featured in holiday greetings from Inside Higher Ed

A photograph of Ohio University’s historic Cutler Hall, which is located on College Green on the Athens Campus, was recently chosen as the winner of Inside Higher Ed’s winter campus photo contest. The photo will be featured as part of the higher education news publication’s holiday card and holiday greetings on its social media pages.

Those following Inside Higher Ed on Facebook and Twitter will see the image featured for the holiday season.

Constructed in 1816 and completed in 1819, Cutler Hall is the oldest building erected for higher education in the Northwest Territory and is named after Manasseh Cutler, one of the founders of Ohio University. Cutler Hall, which was originally named the College Edifice, is designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service.

“We are pleased that an image of one of OHIO’s most iconic buildings blanketed in snow and decorated for the season will be featured as part of Inside Higher Ed’s holiday greeting this year,” said Chief Marketing Officer Renea Morris. “As Bobcats, we know how fortunate we are to be surrounded by such history every day on the Athens Campus and it’s wonderful to know that others across the world will have the opportunity to share in that appreciation this holiday season.”

OHIO observed the 200th anniversary of Cutler Hall in October 2016 with a celebration on College Green that featured speakers who shared perspectives from the University’s storied past, as well as the creation of a time capsule buried on the grounds for future generations to discover.
