Call for presenters for 2018 Spotlight on Learning Conference

Applications to present at the 2018 Spotlight on Learning Conference are being accepted until February 9. This all-day event will showcase best practices from across the Ohio University community in concurrent sessions centered around the theme "Teaching in Challenging Times." All Ohio University faculty and staff are invited to attend and participate. The conference will be held on the Athens Campus on Thursday, May 3, and is co-sponsored by the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Committee and the Office of Instructional Innovation.

"This year's theme was selected to showcase faculty turning today's challenges into opportunities in the classroom," said Candi Morris, senior director of instructional design and strategic program initiatives. "We have outstanding faculty and we are excited to provide opportunities for them to help inspire one another."

Possible session topics could include using new technologies to introduce a diverse or global perspective in your course, implementing strategies for facilitating difficult dialogues and fostering civil discourse, equipping students to succeed and persevere, or any other creative solution you have explored in your teaching practice focused around a related challenge or opportunity.

"We are excited to bring together so many outstanding teachers from across all of Ohio University," said Scott Titsworth, co-chair of the Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Committee and dean of the Scripps College of Communication. "Our hope is that through dialogue surrounding the Spotlight on Learning sessions, we will have a forum through which great ideas can germinate and spread across the University. Our faculty are such tremendous teachers, so this opportunity will be very exciting.

If interested in presenting at the conference, please fill out this form by February 9. For additional information, visit the event web page, or email the Office of Instructional Innovation at oii@ohio.edu.
