Elizabeth Sayrs named interim Executive Vice President and Provost at Ohio University

Ohio University has named Dr. Elizabeth Sayrs the University’s new interim Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP). She will begin her new role on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Sayrs will lead OHIO’s academic core during the next few months while the University works to identify a permanent EVPP by July 1.

“Dr. Sayrs was an obvious choice for me as she has proven to be a highly-valued and trusted member of the institutional leadership team,” said Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis. “I know she will excel in this position just as she has in every other position in which she has ever been asked to serve.”

Later this month, Sayrs plans to develop a transition plan to identify a qualified individual who will serve as OHIO’s interim Dean of University College and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, her current role. The University will notify the campus community of Sayrs’ selection at a later date.

The EVPP of Ohio University oversees academic programs, University budget planning and the research and coordination of internal University matters with OHIO’s vice presidents. All deans report to the EVPP position; the EVPP reports directly to OHIO’s President.

A nationwide search for OHIO’s next EVPP is currently underway and remains on schedule. Additional updates, and news of candidates visiting campus, will be shared by the University in the coming months.
