Let your competitive spirit run wild at the OHIO Alumni Association’s 5th annual On The Green Weekend in Athens from May 16-19.

In addition to signature events like Cruise-In At The Convo and “OH, I dO!,” On The Green Weekend includes a plethora of sporting activities and competitions for those who want to get active.

Kick off the weekend with Golf on the Green on Thursday, May 17. All are welcome to join fellow alumni for a round at Ohio University’s par 35 golf course along the Hocking River. The event will offer three tee times: 3 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Registration is $18 and includes a nine hole-game and golf cart.

Get your blood pumping on Saturday morning with a friendly basketball tournament. The 3-on-3 Basketball on the Bricks is a coed, double elimination competition for players ages 14 and older. Each team must have a minimum of three players. Check-in is at 8:30 a.m. at Ping Recreation Center, Area D, and the tournament will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration is $20 per team.

If you’d rather have fun in the sun, swing by the South Beach Volleyball Courts on South Green in front of the Front Four on Saturday morning for sand and spikes during the inaugural Sandy Paws Beach Volleyball game. Bobcats of all ages can participate – no prior volleyball experience is necessary. Sign up as a team or individually to play a handful of free games from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Don’t miss out on the OHIO giveaways and good times!

Also on Saturday morning, the Association is partnering with Athens CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) to host the Athens CASA Superhero Dash. This event gives people of all ages the opportunity to run, walk or bike in their favorite superhero costumes.

“This is a great way for the University and the community to come together in a partnership that brings attention to a very important cause within the community,” Tyler Gagai, the Association’s assistant director of external relations, said. “It allows alumni who return to campus to have an impact on the people in the community, even years after they have left Ohio University.”

Check out the complete list of races and register online. The first race begins at 7:30 a.m., and check-in will be at Tailgreat Park. The cost per race is $10 for children and $25 for adults. All proceeds from the event go to help local foster children.

Don’t miss this opportunity to reconnect with your University and the OHIO community while engaging in friendly competition! Visit the On The Green Weekend website for a complete schedule of events.
