University to host variety of 2018 Black History Month events

Ohio University has numerous Black History Month events scheduled for 2018. Despite the month being halfway over, many entertaining and educational events remain on the calendar.

On Thursday, Feb. 15, a free showing of the new superhero movie, “Black Panther,” will be held at 8 p.m. at Athena Grand located at 1008 E. State St. in Athens. The first 300 attendees will receive free popcorn.

An International Dance Night will be held at 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in Casa Nueva located at 6 W. State St. in Athens. Admission is free.

Singing group Ladysmith Black Mambazo will perform at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. For tickets, visit the Performing Arts website at https://www.ohio.edu/performingarts/.
