Diversity and Inclusion

OHIO is a place where difference in all its forms is welcomed and celebrated. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion leads these efforts, but every student, faculty, staff, and community member play a role in bringing these values to life on OHIO’s campuses. While our work towards being a truly inclusive community for underrepresented and minority groups is never done, OHIO celebrates its progress and its recognition as a national leader in this area.

Academic Excellence

Enhancing the quality of OHIO’s teaching, research, and experiential learning is key to attracting the country’s best and brightest students. Distinctive programs like the Honors Tutorial College, which provides exceptional students with a tutorial education in the tradition of Oxford and Cambridge Universities, and The OHIO Honors Program, which offers students the opportunity to shape their own unique and challenging educational pursuits, highlight Ohio University’s commitment to the intellectual growth and academic achievement of its students.

Community

OHIO is a positive catalyst in the communities it shares, whether at the local, state, national, or global level. Through the work of offices like the Center for Campus and Community Engagement, the Innovation Center, Global Affairs and International Studies, and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine’s Community Clinic, OHIO strengthens its connection to the communities in which its campuses operate, as well as its connection with global partners and scholars to expand knowledge and experience to prepare global leaders.

Sustainability

From faculty research projects to community partnerships, Bobcats across OHIO are working to make human impact on our environment more sustainable. OHIO’s efforts in support of sustainability include extensive tracking and reporting on progress towards long-term goals, a hub-based structure that integrates operational and academic efforts, and significant investment in efficiency projects and partnerships that reduce emissions and environmental waste.

Student Support

Student success is at the core of OHIO’s mission. Student support takes many forms at OHIO and is led by the offices and departments of the Division of Student Affairs, with strong belief in the vision that every Bobcat discovers their potential and makes a meaningful impact. From Counseling and Psychological Services and the Survivor Advocacy Program to the Campus Involvement Center and Career and Leadership Development Center, OHIO is committed to the development of students as scholars, leaders, advocates, professionals, and people.

Bobcat Spirit

What does it mean to be a Bobcat? Whether your list includes cheering on OHIO teams, the Marching 110, or joining in the other traditions that make OHIO great, it’s often hard to pick just one. From Green and White; Rufus; and knowledge, wisdom, and love to Lancaster’s historic covered bridges and The Ohio Horse Park and Center for Therapeutic Riding, these are the things that define Ohio University: The places, people and traditions that set it apart are the essence of what “Bobcat Spirit” celebrates.
