The first-of-its-kind symposium will include lively discussions of important women’s issues on leadership, careers, health and more across 10 sessions. Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Yvette McGee Brown, a graduate of both OHIO and OSU, will deliver the keynote address.

Brown became the first African-American woman to serve as an Ohio Supreme Court Justice in 2011. Her work within the Ohio community has been recognized by many, earing Brown awards such as Ohio University’s Medal of Merit, The Ohio State University Distinguished Service Award and many others.

Lee, and OHIO Associate Professor and Political Science Department Chair Sarah Poggione.

“I think it’s really a great opportunity to highlight all of the great work that people are doing on women’s leadership, as well as highlight the women leaders in our community,” said Poggione, who will discuss the importance of having women in state legislature positions.

The symposium will also feature OHIO and OSU women in significant leadership positions, including OHIO Senior Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Jenny Hall-Jones; OSU Assistant Director of Residence Life and Chair of the University Staff Advisory Committee Liz Gordon-Canlas; and Assistant Director for Leadership at OHIO’s Career and Leadership Development Center Erin Morgenstern.

OHIO and OSU registration for the 2018 Women’s Leadership Symposium costs $30 and includes giveaways, parking, breakfast and lunch.
