Annual Global Opportunities Fair is scheduled for Sept. 24

The Office of Global Opportunities (OGO) will host the Global Opportunities Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in the Baker Center Ballroom. It is free and open to the public.

The annual fair gives students the chance to learn more about domestic and international study away opportunities. Students will be able to speak with program directors, third-party providers and returned students about their experiences. OGO advisers will be on hand to answer any questions. There will also be information about financial aid, scholarships and passports.

Catherine Marshall, director of the Office of Global Opportunities, encourages everyone to visit the fair, even those who haven’t yet considered participating on a study abroad or domestic study away program. “There are so many ways for students to enhance their degrees and OHIO experience.

Students will find opportunities to improve foreign language skills in Japan, hone networking skills at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, rappel down waterfalls in Costa Rica and compare health care systems in Botswana, to name just a few of the opportunities at the fair.”

Ohio University offers more than 90 programs in more than 40 countries. The Fair will feature many of those programs, along with programs coordinated through OHIO affiliates and third-party providers. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a social media raffle to win one of five $2,000 study away scholarships.

For those interested in additional information on global programs, the Walter International Education Center has walk-in advising on weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m.
