It’s a good day to feel good! The University’s popular Healthy OHIO program kicks off the fall semester with biometric screenings and an exciting Max Buzz™ activity tracker program.

“Healthy OHIO is now in its 11th year and, while it has seen some evolution as national wellness trends advance, I think the greatest evolution we have seen is the administrative support of uplifting employee wellness,” said Jenn Bennett, director of WellWorks.

Healthy OHIO is Ohio University's employee wellness initiative and is supported by Human Resources and the Benefits Advisory Council. “This year, we’re seeing a large number of University leaders inviting our team to their staff meetings so we can encourage employees to get onto Virgin Pulse, get a health screening and really take advantage of this benefit,” said Bennett.

Departments who still wish to request a presentation from WellWorks can do so using the online form.

Available to Ohio University employees enrolled in the medical plan and their benefits-participating spouses/partners, the program is intended to give participants customizable tools and resources for a variety of wellness goals, while earning financial rewards for engaging. Healthy OHIO is an umbrella program that houses two rewards programs: an online/mobile wellness platform called Virgin Pulse and biometric health screenings. Additionally, in FY19, WellWorks will be giving away a limited number of Max Buzz ™ activity trackers to participants who wish to further engage with Virgin Pulse.

“The Healthy OHIO program runs year-round but, to really maximize the benefit, now is a great time to dive in,” suggested Annie Laurie Cadmus, WellWorks engagement and marketing coordinator. “The Athens campus employees can get their health screenings accomplished right now, eligible employees can register to get a Max Buzz activity tracker and we’re about to start a new earning quarter on Virgin Pulse.”

Cadmus went on to explain that the Max Buzz™ activity tracker program is structured in a way to give participants a resource that can help them better engage with their own wellness goals on Virgin Pulse. A limited number of these trackers are being offered to participants throughout the semester at no additional cost to them. Participants who wish to be considered for a device can register online.

WellWorks, an initiative of OHIO’s College of Health Sciences and Professions, offers a wide array of wellness services to Ohio University employees as well as the surrounding area. From massage to nutrition to personal training, we have your wellness needs covered. To request accommodations to fully participate in any of our programs, please contact Annie Laurie Cadmus at cadmus@ohio.edu, 740-593-9458.
