iCUE Spotlight: Nov. 23-29, 2018

Take a look at the upcoming events on the official OHIO Calendar of University Events. Anyone with an active OHIO ID can log in and complete the form to add events that are sponsored by any OHIO planning unit or registered student organization.

So be sure to add your OHIO events, programs and deadlines to the CUE to help keep all members of our University community in the loop!

Here’s a look at a few upcoming events:

OHIO Football vs. Akron

Friday, Nov. 23, Noon, Peden Stadium

Cheer your Bobcats to victory as they compete against the Akron Zips. Admission is free for OHIO students with a valid ID. All others, please visit the OHIO Athletics ticket website to purchase season and single-game tickets.

 

Guest Artist and Faculty Recital, Brian Hsu, piano Dawn Wohn, violin 

Monday, Nov. 16, 8 p.m., Glidden Hall, School of Music Recital Hall

Collaborators since their time as students at The Juilliard School and Yale University, Brian Hsu joins OHIO School of Music Violin Professor Dawn Wohn for a recital featuring works by Schubert, Bartok, Saint-Saens and more. The event is free and open to the public.

 

"Contemporary Renewals of Black-Palestinian Solidarity"

Tuesday, Nov. 27, 4:30 - 6 p.m., Schoonover Center 145

The Global Solidarities Lecture Series presents a public lecture by Noura Erakat titled, “Contemporary Renewals of Black-Palestinian Solidarity."

 

The Purple Gala

Tuesday, Nov. 27, 6 p.m., Baker University Center

The Ohio University senior nursing class will host The Purple Gala. Join us for an evening of dinner, raffles, music, and speakers to raise awareness of the current opiate epidemic in our community. The proceeds will benefit Serenity Grove, an Athens, Ohio, women's recovery facility. Single tickets are $25 or $40 for two. To purchase tickets, contact Kyrsten Nitz at kn694914@ohio.edu 

 

Ohio Communication Hall of Fame Induction | Dan Dry

Wednesday, Nov. 28, 7 p.m., Schoonover Center 145

Renowned photographer and Athens native Dan Dry will be inducted into the Ohio Communication Hall of Fame. The ceremony will be followed by a gallery show and reception.

 

THEATER: "Cabaret" by Masteroff Kander and Ebb

Wednesday, Nov. 28-Dec. 8, 8 p.m., RTV Building, Forum Theater

In this famous stage musical, aspiring novelist Clifford Bradshaw arrives in Berlin in the early 1930s with chronic writer’s block. While taking in the sights at the decadent Kit Kat Klub, he meets Sally Bowles. They fall madly in love and spend far too much time party hopping before various romantic and sexual complications arise. The show packs a wallop with its terrifying look at totalitarianism. Through Arts for Ohio, tickets are free for OHIO students with a student ID. Regular tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for other students and seniors. For more information, call 740-593-4800.

 

ATHENA: Holiday Movie Series — "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"

Thursday, Nov. 29, 7 p.m., Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court St. Athens OH 45701

From Nov. 29 through Dec. 22, the Athena Cinema will partner with the Department of Real Estate Management, Community Engagement and Economic Development and Athens’ food pantries to bring back the traditional movie series.
