Ohio University Research Committee selects recipients for fall 2018 cycle funding

Proposals now accepted for spring awards cycle

The Ohio University Research Committee has selected four faculty proposals for funding during its fall 2018 cycle. In total, the committee awarded $26,462.

The program, which is funded by the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity, provides seed money for new faculty and administrative staff members or established applicants seeking to start a new direction in their research. Applicants may request up to $8,000 per proposal.

The committee received a total of 15 proposals requesting $110,683 in funding.

The fall recipients are:
 

1. Kathleen Sullivan, Political Science

The Protection of Seaman, 1789-1915

Amount Funded:  $3,703

 

2. Charles Lowery and Michael Hess, Educational Studies    

Moral Literacy among Principals as a Response to Opioid-Related Student Trauma

Amount Funded:  $6,879

 

3. Thomas Smucker, Geography

Foundations for Convergence: Bridges and Barriers between Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation under Two Models of Devolution in East Africa

Amount Funded:  $7,905
 

4. Cory Cronin, Social and Public Health

Do You Need a Ride? Overcoming Transportation Barriers 

Amount Funded:  $7,975
