Comedies, campfires and crafts highlight Moms Weekend activities
The last of this year’s OHIO Family Weekends, and one of the most popular, is here. With events spanning from 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 7, moms and Bobcats will find no shortage of activities to fill their weekend.
A variety of events are scheduled, including ziplining, stargazing and campfires at The Ridges, a Conkle’s Hollow nature hike and crafting events.

Here are a few highlights:
7- 9 p.m. April 5: The Women's Comedy Show: Mom Genes - Baker Theater
Bobcats can grab their moms and get ready to laugh. The annual Women's Comedy Show is back for another year. Donations will be collected at the door and will go to Sister's Place, a domestic violence shelter in the Athens area. Make sure to get there early if you want a seat.
7:30 p.m. April 5, 3 and 7:30 p.m. April 6: Athena Cinema presents The Princess Bride - Athena Cinema
If the Women's Comedy Show doesn’t sound appealing, Bobcats and their moms can head up to the Athena Cinema for a screening of the iconic film Princess Bride. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the theater or through CashNet.
6 p.m. April 6: Waking Up in the 80's Learn to Skate Spring Ice Show - Bird Arena
Join the OHIO Synchronized Skating team and Bird Arena's Learn to Skate program for their spring show. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at the front desk in Bird Arena.
8 p.m. April 6: Performing Arts Series presents Comedian Demetri Martin - Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium
Demetri Martin is a standup comedian, artist, writer and director. He began doing standup comedy in New York City, where he worked as a staff writer for Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Demetri then became a regular performer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets will be held at will call under the purchaser’s name. Will call will open one hour prior to the event at the main entrance of Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $20 (reserved seating).
7 p.m. April 7: Anointed Ministries presents See Revival Tour - Baker Theater
Moms and Bobcats are invited to end their weekend in Athens and attend a Gospel Concert with guest artists Geoffrey Golden and Psalmist Raine.
