The votes are in, and Bobcat Nation has selected “1804 and So Much More” as Ohio University’s 2019 Homecoming theme.

More than 1,100 individuals cast votes for the theme of this annual tradition of Bobcat pride, scheduled for Oct. 7-12 on the Athens campus. “1804 and So Much More” won with 411 votes, followed by “Back Home with the Bobcats” (270 votes), “Destination OHIO” (237 votes), “Rufus Roundup” (101 votes) and “Game On: Bobcat Edition” (84 votes).

“The timing for this Homecoming theme couldn’t be more perfect,” said Erin Essak Kopp, assistant vice president of alumni relations and executive director of the OHIO Alumni Association. “It comes in the midst of Ohio University’s 215th anniversary, commemorates our legacy as Ohio’s first and finest university, and celebrates the progress OHIO has and will continue to make. ‘1804 and So Much More’ unites Bobcat students, alumni, faculty, staff and supporters—past, present and future.”

The “1804 and So Much More” theme, submitted by OHIO alumnus Clinton Amand, BSC ’12, MA ’18, will determine the look and feel of this year’s Homecoming festivities. The theme served as the inspiration behind the 2019 Homecoming logo, designed by OHIO alumnus Kyle Lindner, BFA ’17, a designer with Ohio University Advancement Communication and Marketing.

“It’s always exciting to see alumni invested in the Homecoming theme creation, and we are excited to use this theme as the foundation of our celebrations of our amazing University,” said Josh Gruenke, associate director of student activities at OHIO’s Campus Involvement Center.
