Ohio University's Online MBA named to top 30 in the nation by Poets&Quants

Ohio University’s Online Master of Business Administration (MBA) was recently ranked #29 in the United States by Poets&Quants, a leading source of graduate business education information. Up two spots from the 2019 ranking, OHIO’s Online MBA has been consistently recognized by the publication since it initiated rankings in 2018.

“There’s been a rapid increase in the number of online graduate business programs in the market, and we differentiate ourselves by providing an engaging and applicable learning experience for working professionals to gain the skills and business acumen to advance their careers,” said Hugh Sherman, dean of OHIO’s College of Business (COB). “We launched the Online MBA in 2012, and this fall semester, we have nearly 600 students enrolled in the program. I believe that is a testament to the quality of our academics, our dedicated faculty, and the delivery of the program.”

After gathering data from universities and alumni across the nation, Poets&Quants considered and equally weighed three primary factors – admission standards, the MBA experience, and career outcomes – to produce their rankings list of 35 schools. Ohio’s Online MBA placed 10th for career outcomes and 5th overall for MBA experience, making it the highest ranked program for student satisfaction in the state of Ohio.

"Through our Online MBA program, we provide students an exceptional experience, learning business-relevant content that can be applied immediately in today's workplace,” said Dr. William (Bill) Young, O’Bleness associate professor and director of the Online MBA program. “We understand there are many options in the online graduate business arena, but we’ve established a unique program that is comprehensive and challenging, but flexible to fit a busy lifestyle. And I’m very proud of the inclusive, student-centered, transformative learning community we’ve built, regardless if that community is developed in Athens, Ohio, or created virtually online."

OHIO’s Online MBA curriculum covers a wide range of management topics and also offers eight concentrations in accounting, business analytics, business venturing and entrepreneurship, executive management, finance, health care, operations & supply chain management, and strategic selling & sales leadership. Classes are delivered 100 percent online, but students also have the opportunity to visit Ohio University’s Athens Campus for an annual Leadership Development Program that allows students to participate in leadership assessments, in-depth breakout sessions, and networking opportunities.

“As professionals seek to advance their education and their careers, they can turn to Ohio University’s Online MBA program to gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed,” Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis said. “It’s a fantastic achievement for the College of Business to continue to improve in an ever-competitive online national market.”

The Online MBA program, which is offered by Ohio University’s AACSB-accredited College of Business, has also received other top honors. In 2019, the Online MBA program was ranked number 82 out of 300 programs by U.S. News and World Report.

Additionally, OHIO’s College of Business also offers a Professional MBA program, which is a blend of virtual classes and in-person residencies located on the Dublin, Ohio Campus, a One-Year MBA program in Athens, Ohio, and several other graduate business degree and certificate programs that are offered in online, hybrid, and on-campus formats.
