University prepares for planned power outages in November, December
Ohio University’s Facilities Management and Safety has scheduled a series of widespread electrical outages on Athens Campus to allow for improvements to the campus electrical distribution system.
The intent of these efforts is to provide an opportunity to perform preventative maintenance, upgrade equipment in the main electric substation and allow for the new HCOM Academic Facility and Chilled Water Plant 3 to be added to the University’s electric distribution system. The dates for the outages are provided below and have been carefully scheduled during non-business hours adjacent to major academic breaks to minimize impact to the Ohio University community.
- Outage #1: Wednesday, November 27th, 2019
- Start: 3:00 a.m.
- Complete: 4:00 a.m.
- Total Duration: 1 hour
- Outage #2: Monday, December 16th, 2019
- Start: 3:00 a.m.
- Complete: 4:00 a.m.
- Total Duration: 1 hour
- Outage #3: Saturday, December 21st, 2019 to Sunday, December 22nd, 2019
- Start: 8:00 p.m. (12/21)
- Complete: 12:00 p.m. (noon, 12/22)
- Total Duration: 16 hours
Buildings and areas that will not be impacted by the planned outage include:
- 4 University Terrace
- 31 S. Court Street
- Bingham House
- Columbus Road buildings
- Konneker Alumni Center
- Pilcher House
- West State Street Research Park
- West Union Street Office Center
