Ohio University announces search for innovative executive enrollment leader

Ohio University has taken a number of steps to increase future enrollment over the past several months as part of the Catalyze Strategic Enrollment Strategy initiative, which is part of the University’s new Strategic Framework.

The next step in that process is to bring in an innovative leader to guide the University’s strategic vision for enrollment management. The title of that position has been elevated to Vice President for Enrollment Management. The individual selected for this position will report directly to President M. Duane Nellis and will be presented with a significant opportunity to build upon OHIO's institutional strengths to imagine, develop, and execute an ambitious plan for institution-wide enrollment.

“As national enrollment trends evolve, Ohio University must adapt to develop new and innovative ways to attract and retain students at all of our campuses and centers,” President Nellis said. “By elevating this role, we are emphasizing the significant need to advance the University through the success of our students and encourage prospective students to believe in the value of an education from Ohio University.”

The Vice President for Enrollment Management will partner with senior leadership to deliver an optimal enrollment program for Ohio University. The vice president will lead admissions (first-year, transfer, international, online undergraduate, regional, part-time, non-degree, and summer), student financial aid and scholarships, and functions within the registrar’s office. In addition, the vice president will provide strategic vision for enrollment across the University and will provide support for retention and student success.

The vice president will also be asked to maintain focus on diversifying the student body and furthering a campus environment that is accessible, inclusive, and affirming for all students. The new vice president will need to be familiar with new enrollment communication strategies, including digital recruitment techniques.

The search committee for the new vice president is chaired by Hugh Sherman, Dean of the College of Business, and Robin Oliver, Vice President for University Communications and Marketing.

Additional information will be provided as the search processes gets underway and there will be opportunities for the University community to interact with the finalists invited to Athens for campus visits.
