Call for bike removal for Richland Avenue Pedestrian Crossing project

The Richland Avenue Pedestrian Crossing project began on Monday, March 2. While construction is going on, temporary bike racks have been placed near Bobcat Lane for students to use.

The current bike racks between Porter Hall and Grover Center will be removed next week due to the construction. Students must retrieve their bikes from those bike racks before Saturday morning, March 7.

The bike racks that will be removed have signage on them indicating the retrieval deadline. There is currently temporary fencing around the bike racks that gives students access to recover their bikes. Permanent fencing will then be put up in that area next week.

Any bike not picked up by March 7 will be held by the Ohio University Police Department until May 1. After May 1, any bicycle not claimed and left in OUPD custody will then be turned over to surplus and auctioned.

After construction on the project concludes, the removed bike racks between Porter Hall and Grover Hall will be replaced. In the meantime, students are encouraged to use the temporary bike racks placed near Bobcat Lane.
