OHIO provides list of resources and best practices for meaningful remote work opportunities for student employees
Ohio University recently announced the initiative to provide remote work for student employees and has published a list of resources and best practices for supervisors to use when providing meaningful work opportunities for students.
Supervisors can visit the Meaningful Work resource list on the Keep Working page for information on how to start the process of giving work to student employees, as well as ideas for meaningful University-related work, resources for professional development and trainings.
A few examples of meaningful work opportunities listed include website review, social media assistance, job documentation, video tutorials, professional development and Equity and Civil Rights Compliance Trainings. New opportunities for online work will be shared on an ongoing basis.
As plans for transition to remote work continue, the students can also fulfill hours by doing professional development. The page includes links to numerous professional development tools, such as mock interviews, Ohio University Leadership Endorsement and LGBTQ+ Safezone trainings, among others. There is also information about how students can take part in online university trainings for work, like Bridges – Sexual Misconduct Training, Bullying in the Workplace and Clery Act Basic, where they will receive a certificate of completion.
