College of Business to Host Virtual Career Fairs in April

OHIO’s business students continue networking from a distance.

This month the College of Business will host two virtual career fairs – a full-time job fair and an internship fair. The full-time job fair, only open to graduating seniors, will take place on April 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The internship fair, open to freshmen through non-graduating seniors, will be April 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The virtual events will be offered on a platform called Brazen, which provides chatrooms (or, booths) for students and recruiters to discuss employment opportunities. Chatrooms are text based (without video), efficient, and easy to use. Students simply register and upload a resume on Handshake prior to the event, so that employers can view resumes during their conversations with potential candidates. Once in the booths, students have 10 minutes to chat with a recruiter before they move on to the next conversation.

“With all of the challenges that we are facing right now, we’re excited to provide opportunities for students to have meaningful conversations with employers and to help them achieve their professional goals,” said Chris Washko, Associate Director of Employer Relations, who is coordinating the career fairs. “I’m excited for our seniors to still have engagement with employers so they can launch their careers after graduation.”

Although virtual fairs are a new trend in career management across the country, the College of Business is quite experienced with organizing career fairs online, and have already hosted two this semester. They also hosted five last spring. There is even a video already on the College of Business YouTube channel that students are encouraged to watch while preparing for the virtual career fair.

“Our students work so hard to prepare for this moment,” Washko shared. “It’s amazing to see that hard work pay off when they’re offered the position.”

Students who have questions or need support preparing for the event can reach out to their career coach or by emailing cssc@ohio.edu.
