Keeping Bobcats informed, April 21, 2020

Yesterday in Athens there was a blue sky and sunny, 65-degree weather; tonight, there is a freeze warning. It seems even the weather is determined to keep Bobcats on their toes. With final projects and exams approaching, remember that you have a community behind you as you shoulder the end-of-semester stress. Each time that you pivot to address the unforeseen challenge or season each day brings, know that you’re making OHIO proud.

Here is today's update:

SUMMER SEMESTER

Athens Summer Scholarship now available

We know your summer travel, internships or other plans may have been disrupted by the pandemic, and we want to make it possible for you to continue to progress toward your goals. With that in mind, for Summer 2020 only, undergraduate students who enroll in Athens Campus undergraduate courses will be eligible for the Athens Summer Scholarship, a new incentive scholarship valued at 30% of Athens Campus tuition and fees (instructional fee, general fee and nonresident fee when applicable).

VIDEO CHAT SERVICES

Telehealth options expanded to offer face-to-face video chat

Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) is now offering telehealth services for students, which can take place through the phone or face-to-face video. CPS is utilizing Microsoft Teams, a HIPAA compliant application, for telehealth services. If a student is new to counseling OR currently not receiving services at CPS, they should call the office at 740-593-1616 to schedule a Telehealth Initial Appointment. If the student has a counselor through CPS, they may directly contact their counselor via email or call the office to schedule a telehealth appointment. As always, students may call CPS to speak with a counselor at any time at 740-593-1616.

GRADING OPTION DEADLINE

Opt-in for alternative grading option

Undergraduate and graduate students are now able to opt into the University’s alternate grading system, which was approved for Spring Semester 2020 to minimize any disruption due to the coronavirus pandemic. Students taking courses that are not on the exempted course list may now opt in through MyOHIO Student Center to have grades A through C (C- for undergraduate courses) converted into an S grade, which will not impact GPA but still meet all requisite, major, minor, certificate and degree requirements. The deadline to opt in is 5 p.m. May 13, 2020. Regardless of whether students opt in, any D+, D and D- grade in an undergraduate course will convert automatically to S if the course is not on the exempted course list, while F grades (plus C-, D+, D, D- at the graduate level) will automatically convert to No Credit (NC). No Credit grades will not impact your GPA. For more information specific to undergraduate and graduate programs, the deadline for dropping courses and more, visit the Registrar’s FAQ page.
