A Senior Sendoff Like No Other

OHIO’s College of Business recognizes the Class of 2020 and student award winners.

It’s a tradition. Each spring the College of Business celebrates their Bobcat community at banquets, events, and celebrations. From recognizing graduating seniors and retiring faculty, to award-winning juniors and accomplished alumni – the COB works tirelessly to acknowledge and show appreciation for those who make Copeland Hall special.

But this was no ordinary spring. In light of precautionary measures intended to prevent the public from exposure to Coronavirus, the college’s usual events schedule was canceled. That didn’t stop OHIO’s business faculty from honoring seniors and award recipients through a playlist of short videos.

The virtual ceremony began with a message from Dean Sherman and ended with a farewell message from COB alumna Holly Seckinger ‘02. The lineup consisted of special recognition and excellence in leadership awards announced by Andrew Pueschel, Department of Sports Administration awards announced by Jim Strode, and Schey Sales Centre awards by Adam Rapp.

“While these videos cannot replace the camaraderie or smiles that an in-person banquet or Senior Sendoff event would have presented, we know there is power in hearing familiar voices and seeing faces,” said Dr. Sherman.

As graduating Business Bobcats embark on their next journey and launch their careers in unprecedented times, the College of Business looks forward to welcoming them back as alumni for future celebrations including rescheduled Commencement Ceremonies.
